Simply put, these are natural products made from the forests and can be harvested sustainably and ethically for human consumption. NTFPs are naturally grown in forests like the Maya Biosphere Reserve and are created by the people of the forest communities. These food items include nuts, berries, mushrooms, and seeds, or non-food items like medicinal plants or oil.
